The First Big Expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 – The Board Game!
Our first Stretch Goal was a Johnny Silverhand Engram, a digital construct, that can be uploaded onto any character, giving them extra abilities. But now, you can actually become the legendary hero himself, leading his crew.
We talked about it yesterday, and we can present the Johnny Silverhand Expansion add-on to you today. It’s a unique expansion to the Cyberpunk 2077 - The Board Game, with: Four new playable characters (yes, Johnny’s among them, and he’s not just an engram!), a unique faction of eight enemies, two explosive missions during which the adrenaline exceeds all limits with new thrilling mechanics, a set of truly iconic gear any respectable edgerunner should have in their collection!
It’s a big thing when it comes to component list, gameplay depth, and the iconic Cyberpunk stories. You could build a whole new team if you wish! And we’ve seen in your comments you indeed wish for this crew. Who’s in it? Let’s see! You can learn about the expansion in this update, as well as our new video:
Return to the Times When It All Started
(To get the best reading experience, please play
this music in the background.)
Johnny Silverhand expansion add-on lets you go back by over 50 years, straight to the roaring 2020s, to take part in two epic actions that established the Major Leagues. You’ll take on the role of one of the four most iconic edgerunners in history.
Four new characters with unique gimmicks open the way to dozens of new strategies, enhancing the replayability of Cyberpunk 2077 – The Board Game even more. And you know what’s even better? These four legends are totally compatible with the core game! Match Johnny, Kerry, Rogue, or Spider Murphy with characters from 2077 in one team and experience the Campaign and Afterlife missions in a completely new way.
Those characters not only are unique in their skills and playstyle. Thanks to their historical achievements, each of the characters from Johnny Silverhand expansion add-on starts with a default legend action card in their deck. These cards have one more row of action symbols, allowing even more actions if you max your skills! And skills you’ll need because there are two exciting missions to accomplish:
The missions introduce new thrilling mechanics to let you immerse yourself in one of the most epic actions in Night City’s history – destroying Arasaka Tower. You’ll learn about it from two perspectives: the whole team’s and Johnny’s individual view of the events. Both gigs influence the gameplay as well as your edgerunning abilities.
Face New Enemies
This add-on also introduces a new type of enemy that will try to stop you at any cost –
the NCPD.
Don’t underestimate these guys, especially if they come at you in a pack! Prepare for them, equipping the indisputable classics.
With this gear, you’ll become a ruler of the battlefield! Extend your tactical possibilities and see how they’ll influence your missions, adding more replayability to the game.
Technical Information About Johnny Silverhand Expansion Add-On
Johnny Silverhand expansion add-on revives the well-known and beloved stories and characters from the Cyberpunk universe. Although it introduces a lot of fantastic new content, it’s not a stand-alone game. As an expansion, it relies on the core game, utilizing its quickhacks, weapons, crafting cards, etc. To get the full experience, we recommend playing it as an addition to Cyberpunk 2077 – The Board Game.
The gameplay extension add-on doesn’t split into Standard and Deluxe editions. It’s only available in the Deluxe version only. However, you don’t have to pledge for the Deluxe edition of the core game to get this add-on – completing your Standard core game with the Johnny Silverhand extension add-on will bring equal fun since it contains its own set of map tiles, enemies, and other components that vary across game editions.
You won’t experience these quality differences while playing the extension’s missions, as the NCPD doesn’t mix with other enemies. It also means you can mix the characters, gear, and enemies with the core game’s components and scenarios regardless of the chosen pledge – as long as you don’t mind some lore inconsistencies
It’s also worth noting that
Johnny Silverhand expansion add-on will be available in retail. While you’ll get it earlier if you order it now, you’re not pressured to add it to your pledge now in order to enjoy it!
You can add this Add-On to your pledge
here.
How Do Add-Ons Work?
If you explored add-ons, like our preem Cyberpunk 2077 thermal mug or a cool plushie V, you already know how this section works. However, for some of you, the Johnny Silverhand extension add-on will be the first contact with this Gamefound functionality. We prepared a
short and easy-to-follow guide. If you stumble upon any technical problems, please contact
support@goonboard.com.
We’re always happy to help you overcome any issue concerning the campaign or the game! If you qualify for a free copy of V with Mantis Blades, don’t worry. Adding items to your pledge doesn’t cancel or change your backer number. Your alternative V is secured.
Don’t Forget About Stretch Goals!
After crossing 2.75 million USD, Santo Domingo was attacked by a raging cyberpsycho. Chase Coley, a new boss, is already unlocked and ready to test you in a fight! We described him in detail in our previous update, so be sure to check it out if you haven’t yet.
But there’s new fantastic content waiting ahead.
Legend Action Cards: Assaultis a new set of four legend action cards that might prove useful in your conflict with Coley. Transform yourself into a cybervampire – inflict damage by stealing an enemy’s vital forces and transforming them into RAM! It's a neat way to max out an opponent, isn’t it?
After you rescue Santo Domingo, test your new power in a job commissioned by a
new fixer: Dino Dinovic.
Some desperate corpo-rat want to delete their rival’s research and steal the promotion. Dino heard you’re good at your work and gave you the intel. It doesn’t seem difficult until you realize that the lab where the job takes place is full of traps. See what you’re made of in this thrilling Afterlife Mission Generator gig, during which the board wants to kill you!
Last but not least, you caught the attention of
Detective River Ward! He’s a new playable character in Cyberpunk 2077 – The Board Game. He might be naive for believing in justice and trying to do the good thing, but maybe people like him are why Night City still hasn’t gone completely wild.
River’s NCPD background allows him to avoid fighting the guards if his special symbol is played. He’s a tech specialist with a deck dominated by yellow cards. Unlike the rest of the crew, he never aspired to be an edgerunner. It’s actually an advantage – he likes being alive and cares for the lives of his crew, so his quickhack Repair Database restores 2 HP to a chosen team member, including himself. River is also driven to learn the sources of the troubles he encounters. While playing him, you can conduct small investigations to get new intel and resources to help the crew fight Arasaka.
