LACORSA Grand Prix Game
“There is a point where you don’t think you should take it beyond, when you are on the edge and you’re just pushing your luck a little” - John Surtees 1964 World Champion
LACORSA is a card game based on the art of overtaking in Grand Prix racing.
The cards control the movement of the racecars on the board. Each deal of the cards is it's own race and the cards are a resource to be managed by the drivers. Championship points are awarded based on the finishing order after each hand. The driver with the most points after 7 rounds is crowned World Champion.
There are many ways to play LACORSA. For 2-3 players each player manages 2 racecars and operates them as a team. With 4-6 players each driver controls only one racecar. The drivers can be grouped into teams to add another dimension to the game. Playing time varies based on experience and number of drivers but each race is between 10-20 minutes.
Qualify, Race, and Win.
A suit of cards is dealt to each racecar. Each race begins by players using a card to determine the starting position of their machine. The racing begins with a series of challenges for position up and down the field as the front runners extend their leads. The game is simple in it’s concept but race strategy is complex and based on card-driven dynamics.
Italians are passionate about Grand Prix Racing. The art and culture that surrounds it is the inspiration for this game. The LACORSA game is directed at auto racing enthusiasts and gamers alike. It captures the essence of late 60's grand prix racing and the design theme is strongly influenced by Swiss graphic design, the Monza Italian Grand Prix posters designed by Max Huber and the Bauhaus chess set by Josef Hartwig.
