Flames of Orion is a model agnostic, tabletop miniature skirmish game. Players control Combat Units composed of giant mechanized machines fighting over a devastated system.

Flames of Orion fills a void in the mech tabletop world. Other games suffer from taking too long to play. Frequently; too crunchy, with a dull setting.

UNIT CUSTOMIZATION

With 100's of possible loadouts, the game offers diverse options for gearing your Combat Unit. Mix and match across different weapon platforms, utility upgrades & ammo.

PICK UP AND PLAY

The game is designed with two ways to start playing. Quick Start and Veteran Mode. Quick Start has you jumping into a game in under five minutes with randomized platforms being equipped to each model.

Veteran mode enables more control. Players start with a limited number of credits to purchase platforms and upgrades for your Mechs. Spend wisely.

MODEL AGNOSTIC

Models from your favorite battle mech companies fit into Flames perfectly. Have fun and don't sweat if the scale is slightly off. Kitbash your heart out. Any 6mm, 1/285, or two inches tall, Flames of Orion works with em all.

There are also rules included for non-mech units, for those that enjoy the idea of tanks, aircrafts and infantry, all balanced around heat and credits. Flexible forces, honed in the forge of metal on metal.

WHAT YOU NEED

All you need to play a game of Flames of Orion are the following;

+ 4 models per player.
+ A handful of 6-sided dice.
+ A measuring device.
+ A 2x2’ or bigger play area.
+ The rules.

Flames of Orion's is a turn-based skirmish game with alternating activation. The games main focus is the customization of your units, deadly combat and the tension building HEAT system.

HEAT

The HEAT system is designed to put you on the edge of your seat as you make your way across the battlefield. As you perform actions, you gain HEAT. Every action pushing you closer to oblivion. If you aren't careful you can overheat, causing complete mayhem across the board. When you reach your models HEAT threshold, you have a chance of exploding, leaving a cascade of destruction in your wake.

At the end of every round, you have a chance to gain additional HEAT. Due to the state of your ramshackle machines & the stress of the situation. You must balance your turn between action and inaction, safety or harms way. Everything dancing around the edge of overheating and leaving a smoking crater.

DESTRUCTIBLE TERRAIN

Each game you play should have a good spread of line-of-sight blocking terrain. To add to the chaotic nature of the game, the terrain you play with is destructible, causing potentially more damage and destruction to your games. By the end of the game, cascading explosions lead to devastating ruins. Survival on a knife edge of destruction.

Flames of Orion is a complete game, the art is done, the layout is done, and the rules are tight, direct, and deadly. Flames of Orion had an initial first pressing of 100 copies for Adepticon 2025, where it was met with incredible success and sold out on the first day. This second pressing will contain more art, an updated layout, small fixes and & some extra narrative.
