In Bugz, there are ants, beetles and mosquitoes; there are red bugs, green bugs and blue bugs; there are hollow bugs, spotty bugs and solid bugs; and there are small bugs, medium bugs and large bugs. In the game, players take it in turns to try and collect as many bugs as they can – but in order to score points, all the bugs they pick up in a single turn must have at least one feature in common. To play the game, 20 cards are laid out face-down in a grid. Player 1 then begins the game by turning up 2 cards in place. If these cards share a feature, he can either end his turn and score these, or keep going by turning up another card. If all 3 cards share a feature, once again, he can either end his turn and score these, or keep going, and so on. The more bugs a player collects in a single turn, the more points he will get. But if at any point the cards he has turned up don’t all share a feature, he must turn them back over and won’t score any points at all. Players continue taking turns until the grid can no longer be refilled to 20 cards, whereupon the game is over, and the player with the most points is the winner.
