Dear backers,
As promised, I come back to you with the official announcement on the future of the game. I am sorry for this late update, but several legal aspects needed to be finalized before I could make any statement.
As some of you have already guessed, it is Monolith Board Games who will continue the OrcQuest WarPath adventure. When I started looking for a buyer, Monolith immediately showed interest and seemed the most serious candidate to take the project to its conclusion. After a demo of the game, a lot of calculations and open discussions, an agreement has been reached.
A new Kickstarter campaign for OrcQuest WarPath will be launched by Monolith during the last quarter of 2022.
This new campaign has a crucial objective: reach a funding goal of $200,000 with the participation of NEW pledgers. If this objective is not reached, the project won’t be financially viable.
The role of Monolith
● The work done by Maze Games (development of the game, creation of the miniatures' molds…) will be finalized by their teams. The optimizations suggested by Monolith will help unify all the components.
● Monolith is now officially in charge of the project. Like I do, they see the qualities of this game and want to reach new backers with their campaign. New and previous backers will receive the same game.
● The objective of $200,000 for this new campaign will allow every backer from the first campaign to receive an all-in pledge of the game, whatever their initial pledge level was during the campaign or the Late Pledge.
This will include every Stretch Goal unlocked during the new campaign.
Monolith will also bear the costs for producing and shipping their all-in from China to the regional hubs.
The previous backers will only have to pay the shipping and sales taxes.
No VAT has been collected, neither during the first campaign nor during the Pledge Manager.
This represents between 50€ and 60€ for most European countries, and between 40€ and 50€ for North America.
● This can be achieved by unifying the offer. Monolith will propose a unique pledge level for an all-in, in order to limit the multiplication of cost inducers (packaging, order preparation, shipping…).By grouping all the expansions in a single (big) box, the logistics and manufacturing costs are lowered, giving this project a chance to see the light of day.
State of the game
The development is almost over and the miniatures' molds are final. There are changes to be made as Monolith is optimizing the packaging to group the expansions, reworking the layout and adjusting some aspects of the game experience (dice…).
By the time the campaign launches, and in compliance with Monolith's new policy, all OrcQuest production files will be done.
I know asking for another financial participation from the previous backers is far from ideal, and I apologize for that. I wish things had taken a different turn.
Monolith and I really think this solution, even if not perfect, is the best chance the game has to finally hit your game tables. I hope it will satisfy as many of you as possible.
I would like to thank you once again for your patience and support. I hope this update will answer your concerns. I pass the torch to Monolith who now takes the reins of this project, but know that I stay committed and involved in finishing what I started.
Be bad, be tough, be Orc!
